WW: 4th of July Weekend 2012

4th of July this year was HOT and on a Wednesday and HOT. I had a love/hate relationship with it. I loved it because WHOO-HOO! Got a break in the middle of the week. Hated it b/c OH NO! 2 Mondays! And it was HOT! Did I mention that already? It was in 100s ALL week and didn’t “cool” off to the upper 80s until Saturday afternoon.

Still, it was a great weekend. I was off Wednesday and Friday and our awesome friends from NJ came by to visit us! We toured them around our new neck of the woods (though it’s all cornfields once you go beyond a 5 mile radius). We also snuck in a trip to Chicago…perfect timing too as we celebrated our 5th Anniversary :)

Buddy’s 1st trip to the city…I couldn’t stop singing “hot times, buddy(summer) in the city” (you know you’re singing it now too).

Our hotel was kid AND pet friendly – giving them all goodie bags and treats. They even had a kiddie hour where they had popcorn and lemonade set up for the kids along with board games and a Wii station too!

And we had the “Palace Theater” lights as our view…

Saturday, we ate a Filipino Restaurant. OH MY YUMNESS! How I’ve missed Filipino(unhealthy) food! We missed it so much, we had brunch there again on Sunday! I was so excited to eat I forgot the “before” pic. Here’s the after…I wish I had more room in my belly!

There happened to be a street fest going on so we got to go check it out and the girls even got to go on a pony ride! Excuse me as I am ripping Shrimpie’s top…This must have been one of the times she let go and I had to quickly hold her up / tighter:

Thankfully, it cooled off on Saturday and we got to celebrate our 5th Anniversary without sweating every second of just standing outdoors.

Walking along Michigan Ave, we spotted our “anniversary” building:
Seven Seven Seven Michigan Ave... 07.07.07 Our Anniversary :)

So, of course, we had to pose in front of it.  Don’t mind my windblown bangs in the windy city…And no, we didn’t mean to match.  I only brought 1 tee b/c I thought it would be crazy hot like the previous days.  He only had this tee to match his sneakers (which he wore this night b/c of all the walking we were planning on doing.  Otherwise, he would just wear his sandals).

We didn’t take too many “touristy” type photos since we did a lot of that back in February when we went. We didn’t make it to they Skydeck like we had planned. The line was too long and we were supposed to come back, but dinner was so yum and filling that we wanted to walk a bit and then watched fireworks from the sidewalk as the Navy Pier was putting on a show. Sorry, no good fireworks pics here. We were on the sidewalk and had a sign in our view at times.

It really cooled off at night and the Windy City proved why it is called that:
Razz & Beans "windy" city it is

Felt like our stay was too short, as always. Really starting to like Chi-town (though I’m not sure I like saying “Chi-town”…lol).

Join us for Wordful Wednesday by posting a link to your entry over at Angie’s:

Oh, Oh Shrimpie (singing to the tune of Prince’s “Oh Sheila”)

Um yeah, I don’t know…just go with it and sing it in your head!  :)

It’s crazy busy at work again (read as: “still”) and having laptop issues last night didn’t help a bit.  I slept almost at midnight uninstalling stuff and clearing cache, etc.  I woke up at 3am to see if anything was better.  Nope.  called my helpdesk at work and all they could do at that point was log a ticket. Woke up at 7am to see if anything has improved.  Nada.

Anywho, laptop issues have now been resolved, but don’t you wish you could just call HelpDesk on your kids at times?  I, mean, I guess that’s what Nannies/Babysitters/grandmas are for, but um, we are not privy to that right now in our new mid-western life.  Too bad my MIL left already – she was a great help!   Shrimpie’s been more than a handful lately…more than 2 handfuls or 3 even.

As of 1pm CST, Shrimpie has managed to:

A) Wake up at 8:30am.
B) Wake up her sisters (by hitting them).
C) Beat up her sisters throughout the morning.
D) Climb chairs and furniture.
E) Spill water all over bathroom sink.
F) Be roommates with Buddy (in Buddy’s crate!).
G) Catch some “Bubble Guppies” and “Sesame Street”.
H) Throw cereal all over the table and floor.
I) Break an egg by throwing it onto the kitchen floor.
J) Nap.
K) All of the above…

TGIF

never a dull moment w/this girl! she got herself in the crate and was trying to close it.  thank goodness Buddy is such a great tempered dog!

Just Droppin In…

Hope y’all had a great Easter weekend…or Passover…or just a great weekend overall :)

As you can imagine, Easter was a busy one for us…3 lil kids and a pup.  My grammar school friend said it best:

“Easter Irony:  HE comes back to life…meanwhile, Easter sucked the life out of me!”

For now, here’s a quick pic of our 2 babies: Shrimp showin’ Buddy her Easter Eggs…I’ll post more tomorrow, I hope.  I have a hot hubby’s birthday dinner to get ready for (HAPPIEST BIRTHDAYS TO YOU, oh hot one!) and then some cleaning – especially since the SD comes in from NJ tomorrow afternoon.

WW: Buddy

Ok, I’m 1 day behind w/Wordful Wednesday…Besides working and being a WAHM and that the big girl is home from Spring Break this week which leaves me all 3 at home during the day, I’ve got this little guy now too…In case you haven’t met him yet, his name is BUDDY…

Buddy @ 6wks 6 days

He’s a sleepy pup, but I guess they all are at this age. I haven’t a clue, this is my 1st puppy / dog / 4-legged friend…Poor pDaddy is training Buddy and the rest of us at the same time…ahahah…

Everyone thinks he’s a Golden Retriever, but he’s a Fox Red Lab and he just happens to be 7 weeks today! Happy 7 Weeks, Bud! Once he wakes up after his nap (again), I’ll try to get more pics of him. He does need his 7 week portrait…lol

(pics above were from yesterday where he was 6 wks and 6 days).

New Addition – Cuteness Overload!

I’ve had posts (in my head) lined up…posts about shoes, skincare, makeup, spring break, activities, etc…I wanted to do them late last week and maybe over the weekend when he had some downtime…Instead, I’ve been a bit preoccupied b/c pDaddy decided he would surprise us on Thursday night…with this guy:

Buddy

Everyone, meet Buddy…the newest addition to our family! He’s a Fox Red Lab and is about 6.5 weeks old now. pDaddy and I always talked about getting a yellow lab, later in at some point in the future. But, I guess he’s been searching and fell in love w/this lil guy…as have the girls and I. I’m still holding back a lil b/c I don’t want Shrimpie getting jealous and because I’ve never had a 4-legged friend before…just some fish and birds and bunnies…never a dog. Don’t have a clue how to take care of one, but I’m learning. Good thing he still likes to sleep a lot :)

Buddy's naptime

I think what did pDaddy in, besides his cute puppy dog eyes, are Shrimp’s love of dogs. Our best friends back in NJ have a lil cute Shitzu and she would laugh and giggle and wouldn’t be able to contain her excitement around her. I’d feel so bad for that dog b/c Shrimp would always try to tug on her fur, ears, tail, etc…Anytime Shrimp sees a dog she gets all happy and giddy and just uber excited. I think this pic, captures what I’m trying to say best:

Buddy & Shrimpie

I love how she looks like she’s playing “Follow the Leader” too. eheheheh

Now, apparently, National Puppy Day was on Friday, 03.23 and I wish we knew because we added the cuteness that is Buddy on Thursday, 3/22 (when he turned 6 weeks old).  So, Buddy, Belated Happy National Puppy Day! How can you not love this lil guy? Check out these puppy dog eyes!

Buddy!
