WW: 4th of July Weekend 2012

4th of July this year was HOT and on a Wednesday and HOT. I had a love/hate relationship with it. I loved it because WHOO-HOO! Got a break in the middle of the week. Hated it b/c OH NO! 2 Mondays! And it was HOT! Did I mention that already? It was in 100s ALL week and didn’t “cool” off to the upper 80s until Saturday afternoon.

Still, it was a great weekend. I was off Wednesday and Friday and our awesome friends from NJ came by to visit us! We toured them around our new neck of the woods (though it’s all cornfields once you go beyond a 5 mile radius). We also snuck in a trip to Chicago…perfect timing too as we celebrated our 5th Anniversary :)

Buddy’s 1st trip to the city…I couldn’t stop singing “hot times, buddy(summer) in the city” (you know you’re singing it now too).

Our hotel was kid AND pet friendly – giving them all goodie bags and treats. They even had a kiddie hour where they had popcorn and lemonade set up for the kids along with board games and a Wii station too!

And we had the “Palace Theater” lights as our view…

Saturday, we ate a Filipino Restaurant. OH MY YUMNESS! How I’ve missed Filipino(unhealthy) food! We missed it so much, we had brunch there again on Sunday! I was so excited to eat I forgot the “before” pic. Here’s the after…I wish I had more room in my belly!

There happened to be a street fest going on so we got to go check it out and the girls even got to go on a pony ride! Excuse me as I am ripping Shrimpie’s top…This must have been one of the times she let go and I had to quickly hold her up / tighter:

Thankfully, it cooled off on Saturday and we got to celebrate our 5th Anniversary without sweating every second of just standing outdoors.

Walking along Michigan Ave, we spotted our “anniversary” building:
Seven Seven Seven Michigan Ave... 07.07.07 Our Anniversary :)

So, of course, we had to pose in front of it.  Don’t mind my windblown bangs in the windy city…And no, we didn’t mean to match.  I only brought 1 tee b/c I thought it would be crazy hot like the previous days.  He only had this tee to match his sneakers (which he wore this night b/c of all the walking we were planning on doing.  Otherwise, he would just wear his sandals).

We didn’t take too many “touristy” type photos since we did a lot of that back in February when we went. We didn’t make it to they Skydeck like we had planned. The line was too long and we were supposed to come back, but dinner was so yum and filling that we wanted to walk a bit and then watched fireworks from the sidewalk as the Navy Pier was putting on a show. Sorry, no good fireworks pics here. We were on the sidewalk and had a sign in our view at times.

It really cooled off at night and the Windy City proved why it is called that:
Razz & Beans "windy" city it is

Felt like our stay was too short, as always. Really starting to like Chi-town (though I’m not sure I like saying “Chi-town”…lol).

Sad Face :(

We’ll be back to ho-hum after this afternoon.  Last of our guests go back later :( sad face indeed.

Hubby’s side was with us for the past 11 days (with work crazy earlier this month and then guests, posting was on hiatus)…SIL and her fam drove back to TX on Sunday…PIL will head back to NJ this afternoon.  Back to just us :(

Wonder if we’ll go through withdrawal.  10 people in a 2 bedroom townhouse for 8 days and then down to 7 for another 3…Believe it or not, there was no bloodshed ;)

Nap Time

Or not…monkeeee in the middle’s causin a ruckus! Maybe she’s excited ove the long weekend too? Lol

As for me, hope to get some running (indoors on dreadmill),  gardening and grilling in!  Supposed to be a scorcher this weekend and with no pool at our new place, easy access to central air’s going to be the ticket!  No big thing for gardening since it’s only a small area (townhouse dweller for now).

Hope I can get to the running store too – the only shopping I can justify.  Me and my promises…I swore NOT to go clothes shopping until I drop 10 lbs or a full size! Can’t even keep more than 5lbs off! What was I thinking?  Sooo many great sales too!

What are your plans?

Have a great one!

WW: Father’s Day Edition

Here are the cards the girls made for Father’s Day…

Father's Day Cards 2011

I’ll have to take a pic of the inside of Razz’ card. I was pretty impressed w/her writing :) I helped her spell and she just wrote away…

So for Father’s Day, it was really all about what pDaddy wanted to do, as it should be. The girls slept over Mama and Papa’s house Saturday night b/c pDaddy and I had datenight…which had us walking in our door past 5am. Waking up Sunday morning was painful, to say the least. I woke up at 11:15, but 6 hours was just not enough after being out all night and having some drinks. Let’s just say I have a 2 shot limit when it comes to Patron. Actually, I wasn’t hung over, it was more on the fact that I just needed more sleep, but we had to get up and at ‘em to pick up the girls b/c pDaddy had a bball game at 2:30pm and Mama and Papa had to be somewhere by 5pm. I couldn’t eat and all I wanted to do was nap. Thank goodness the girls napped on the way to the bball game so we all got to nap in the van…After pDaddy’s game, we hung around and played at the playground and then headed home. My Dad came to our house and I took everyone out to eat at our local Chevy’s. I still couldn’t eat much, but finally had more than bread and water in my system.

How did you spend your Father’s Day?

SO! EXCITED! AHHHHHHH!

I took a chance and decided to send an email to see if I could score passes to be part of the audience for the GLEE 3D Movie filming and by golly, I got picked! I just got a reply saying I am part of the audience AND I scored free tickets to the concert for later that night. Filming is tomorrow. This poses a couple of problems:

    - I’m nursing a cold.
    - I need to take a day off, but took off on Tuesday (for Beans’ Pre-K Graduation) and will be taking off next Friday. Well, it is summer, right?
    - I need a sitter! Who’s going to watch all 3 girls? I’ll be essentially gone for more than 12 hours!
    - I want pDaddy to go with me (I have passes for 2), but I don’t know if his boss will let him b/c he was just out sick for 2 days.
    - If pDaddy doesn’t go with me, hmmm…which friend should I take. Actually, I was thinking of taking my 3 year old b/c she loves singing and dancing AND I believe they perform “Firework” by Katy Perry and she LOVES Katy Perry, but I don’t think she can last that long.

Crap. What to do, what to do. But, WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Still so excited! I just hope it all works out!
