I’m FINALLY going on vacation tomorrow, well, in a few hours, really. We’re finally ALL packed, but guess who still has to finish working??? ARGH! Did I mention I still have a bit of a cough? GRRR!!!!
Well, see you all when I get back! I’ll definitely miss the weekly challenges I join (Totally Ticks Me Off Tuesday, Wordful Wednesday, YouCapture) and reading my Daily Reads and some others who aren’t on that list. Hopefully there will be free wi-fi here and there, but if not, I’ll be updating again in a couple of weeks 😉
*I am officially on vacation (well, almost…just gotta wrap up work stuff 😦 )*
pDaddy and I are new to this. We didn’t plan on getting pregnant with either Beans or Razz, but of course, were pleasantly surprised when we saw those pregnancy tests show a “+” sign.
This time around, we are trying to plan for our next baby. He really wants a boy and is starting to consult Chinese Lunar calendars and such so we know when it would be the best month to conceive for a boy. I see a few problems with this –
- We’re not Chinese…lol…
- It’s not 100% accurate (for example, I know couples who had a girl when the conception chart really said “B” for boy).
- I’m not exactly “regular”. I know the timeframe of when I’m supposed to get my “friend”, but it’s always off by a few days and I sure as heck don’t know when I’m supposed to be ovulating.
- I am 31, but my Chinese Lunar age is 33 (according to some calculator he found online). So, do we go by the conception chart for a 31 year old or 33? Looks like 33…grr…making me older than I really am!
It’s even more confusing b/c you’re supposed to calculate based on the Chinese Lunar Month and not the Solar Month (regular calendar months). The conception calendar says 8 = B(oy), but 8 doesn’t = August. The SOLAR Month = 8 for August, but the conception calendar is in LUNAR and Lunar month 8 = October. So confusing! lol
Still, we never planned before and successfully had 2 beautiful girls. I really don’t mind if we have another girl (we have a gazillion clothes already!), but b/c we’re making such a fuss about all this and actually planning, I feel like we’re jinxing it and won’t be pregger at all. I guess we’ll have to wait and see? As long as s/he will be a healthy baby, right?
Are you a mom? Did you try that calendar and do the calculations for age and conception month? Was it accurate for you? For Beans, it was accurate (I was Chinese Age 28 and Lunar month 12 = G). For Razz, it was inaccurate (I was Chinese Age 30 and Lunar month = 11 = B). If I look at the calendar and just go by my regular age/conception month (as opposed to Chinese Age and Chinese Lunar month), it is accurate. Ahhh…more confusion! lol
This week’s challenge was to capture something in Motion. I have 2 little girls so I thought this wouldn’t be such a big deal. However, it wasn’t so easy to capture “the” motion while they were “in” motion.
Take this pool picture below. I really wanted a picture of her going underwater after her jump, but I think I was too nervous and forgot to “click” my camera until she came back up…lol…She’s done this multiple times, but my heart still skips a beat.
Here’s Beans again showcasing her energy at the Park on Sunday running after pigeons. I think this picture shows more of the “motion” I was picturing in my head – you know, that “blur” showing the bird’s wings all a flutter trying to escape this crazy little human girl…and her right foot mid-run…

Here are some pics from our trip to Liberty State Park on Sunday. MIL had her work picnic and family was invited. I was sick, but dragged my bootie over there anyway. Such a shame it wasn’t a clear day…it was hot, hazy and humid…
“D” is for my darling daughters, Razz and Beans in “Synchronized Sliding”…next Baby Olympics sport, yeah?
“D” is also for Daddy Dearest w/his Darling Daughters…taking in the view, albeit a bit hazy…
Razz, the little one, kept trying to look for “Ming-Ming” on the Statue of Liberty’s nose (this all courtesy of “The Wonder Pets” episode where they visit NYC and save a baby pigeon).
Good thing I don’t have too many readers right now b/c I’d probably piss them all off, well, at least the “TWILIGHT” fans out there.
I have to admit, I jumped on the bandwagon late. I never read any of the books and saw “Twilight” on a plane ride in April. And yes, I’m on Team Edward. My goodness, I feel like a DOM (Dirty Ol’ Mom) b/c I think Robert Pattinson is a hottie and I’m probably 10+ years older than he is. Actually, I’m still debating on whether or not I think he’s a hottie all the time or just as Edward. Anyway, I’m not going to deny that I really liked that movie and I actually wished I was in High School again (which, IRL, yeah, no thanks!) and I wished so badly I was Bella and had myself an Edward. BUT, and here’s where I’ll get the hate, I am not a big Kristen Stweart fan.
I felt like I was watching an actress trying hard to act like Jennifer Love Hewitt, but with a goth aura about her. Didn’t she remind you of JLH? Imagine her with non-heavy-dark eyeliner, lighter hair and a chipper attitude. Totally Jennifer Love Hewitt! I felt like I was watching “Party of 5” or one of those Teen Movies she was in. And here’s the kicker…JLH is a “Twi-Hard” who wants a role according to Access Hollywood:
Not only is Jennifer a Twi-hard, but she’s also lobbying for a role in one of the “Twilight Saga’s” films – for both her and her boyfriend, Jamie Kennedy.
“I want a part so bad. Any part’s fine. I will be the vampire who carries Robert Pattinson’s luggage in the airport, that is the part that I will play if they need it. Jamie wants to play a werewolf, so we’re both putting it out there,” she joked.
I don’t know if I can handle both of them in the same movie. I might not be able to tell who’s who. Or wait, no, not true, Stewart’s a bit more goth and punk as opposed to cheery and sunny Hewitt…Then again, maybe she should be Bella’s long lost sister that Edward really falls for…
TIME DIFFERENCE and Offshoring
You know, I don’t mind it so much and I get why there’s a time difference. We’re 3 hours ahead of the West Coast, 7 hours behind Egypt, 9.5 hours behind India, 12 hours behind Malaysia/Philippines, etc. I also have, for the most part, accepted Offshoring. For those who don’t know, it’s where companies send their work outside of the US for cheaper pay/labor. I mentioned this in a previous post, that our company is Offshoring some roles and to not just 1 country, but multiple – India, Malaysia, etc. I have come to terms with the fact that the economy sucks and companies are trying to save money, cut costs and corners whereever possible. So, I understand that we had to Offshore, but, here’s what I don’t get…
These companies “offshore”, work for us. Shouldn’t they work OUR time? Turn around time for things have gone down big time. I used to submit something at 10am and get a reply within 10 minutes to at least let me know who’s working on it and then, if it’s not too crazy, it’s usually done the same day or the next day the latest. Now, I don’t even hear back until the next day and forget it if there are questions that need to be answered. For example, we have programmers in Malaysia I work with. They work 9am – 6pm their time. That’s 9pm – 6am our time. It totally ticks me off that I need to log on at night if I need to have a conversation with them or we have to email each other questions/answers.

That about sums up what’s going on in my head. I’m sick, I have tons of work to do and lots more to get done before we leave for vacay. There’s still laundry to be done, packing and booking all our mini-vacation-in-our-vacation flights/hotels (we’re island hopping 😉 ). I already know I’m going to need a vacation from this vacation…hehehe
Sorry if my posts have been/are going to be lame, but I’m trying here – sick, stressed and all. Actually, I’m surprised I’ve been able to even post daily for almost a month (1 more week and I will have actually accomplished my “NaBloPoMo” duties).
