5 months later…

Well, well, well…it’s been forever and a day since I posted. Geez…almost 5 months?!?!? I just was so consumed in everything that I never really got to blog about everything…living in the moment, I guess (plus, laziness and procastinating).  Facebook and Instagram got updated pretty regularly though.

So, what’s been going on these last few months? Well, here it is in bullets:

  • I fell off the healthy wagon.  I gained all my weight back that I lost from when I did the Ultimate Reset.  I am slowly getting back to eating better, but not having much success. I think I need a really structured plan to keep me going.
  • I joined a 5k Training Group in May and am happy to report that I ran my 2nd 5k in August (my first 5k was last year when I was trying to train on my own).  Ran another one 9/14 with a personal best of 34:52.12 11:15/M.  I’m going to work on trying to get faster and also a 10k.  My ultimate running goal is to run a Half Marathon.
  • I started Focus T25 which is a 25 minute daily workout with Shaun T. (Insanity / Hip Hop Abs instructor).  I did well the first few weeks then, of course, started slacking.  I am 2 weeks from being finished so I’m working on doing my best.  I want my shirt dagnabbit.  I’m afraid my results aren’t as great as I wanted them to be because of my poor eating habits (oh summer bbqs and beers)!
  • My parents finally came out to visit us in the middle of the cornfields this summer.
  • Parents watched the girls while hubby and I had a quick getaway to Montego Bay, Jamaica…just the two of us.  It was so weird not having to look for kids or feed kids or put kids to bed.  It allowed us to reconnect and we just chilled all day and night.  ahhhh…take me back!
  • My dad, uncle and cousin got the girls into fishing!
  • We had a few bbqs this summer where we introduced some Filipino dishes to our neighbors / guests (pork bbq stix, lumpia, etc.).
  • Besides my parents, we had hubby’s cousin and my brother and his family come and visit us too :)  Was quite a busy and entertaining summer!
  • Went on a few roadtrips this summer both to take our visitors and just for us…Chicago x2, St. Louis and Indianapolis.
  • Our neighborhood has had quite the turnover.  It seems we kicked all the old people out and the ones with younger kids are moving in…which means that our kids are always outdoors playing and it’s great except I always have an eye out for Shrimp.
  • My girls are back to school.  Beans is now in 2nd grade and my little Razz started Kindergarten.  I’m now home alone with 1 kid and it’s weird.  Shrimpie is definitely a lot better without her sisters around.  No hitting, screaming, etc
  • Razz and Shrimp just had their joint birthday party a couple of weekends ago and fun was had by all.  Razz turned 6 and Shrimp turned 3.

I think that pretty much sums it all up…I may make more detailed entries on some of these, but in the meantime, here are some pics :)

Hello? Is this thing on?

Wow, been almost 2 months since I posted.  Once again, I need to clear the cobwebs…

I’ve just been so consumed in EVERYTHING going on w/everybody that I haven’t had time to blog.  Facebook and Instagram have been getting updated frequently, but that’s about it.  Mainly, I update Facebook b/c my relatives are mostly all on there.  Being that we moved out of NJ into the middle of the cornfields, that’s another way for everyone to keep up with one another.  But this here blog?  Well, no one in my family really knows about it.  It’s my “anonymous” place on the interwebs…that’s now full of cobwebs.

Thing is, I’m not even sure where I want to go with this blog anymore.  I started blogging years ago just to track my babies’ development in utero and out.  Then it became me wanting to get fit and my kiddie entries fell to the way side.  Then I got back into Fashion and Beauty and then getting fit again.  See what I mean?  This blog is everywhere except one focal point.

Then again, it is my blog, so I guess the focal point would be whatever I wanted to talk about, but…At least I see that my blogging has enabled a way for me to have a tool to look back on things and some things make me feel goofy and other things make me feel old (like what?  I started this blog when Razz was but a whee baby?  She’s now 5, by the way).

As always, I need to learn to make time.  I think I’m getting better with juggling family time and such, but I need to make time for this little home on the web.  I wonder if I’ll keep this blog or start a new one…

Hair Highlights

So I finally got my hair done did…it’s only been 10 months. 10 months of outgrown, frizzy and limp hair.

I went in not knowing what I really wanted, but then decided to go a bit shorter than expected, though not as short as the result. I also decided on highlights, but I think it’s too much. It’s a caramel shade on top of my dark dark brown hair.

I’m going back in tonight to get it darkened even though everyone says it’s fine.  It could be just too much for me…I’m not used to highlights anymore…Plus, the cut didn’t turn out like the picture.  So, maybe I’ll just ask her to give me an angled bob and shorten it up a bit in the back.  Having a flat head and thinning hair = oodles of volume problems!  lol  I also need to get used to bangs.  I’ve just been sweeping them to side or clipping them back…Thus totally negating the whole “bangs can cover my huge forehead” ordeal.  Ahh…hair woes.

Still, I couldn’t resist having a little fun :)

beh…

thumbs down for being sick! :(

thumbs down for being sick! :(

So my last fitness post was about me working out 7 days straight. I rested b/c I was all kinds of sore on Wednesday. Yesterday, I was sneezing and blowing my nose all day. Now, my throat is all itchy and here I am…sick…AGAIN. I am SO sick of being sick it’s not even funny.

The big girl always brings home germs from school and she gets sick, but usually gets over it after a day or 2. Then, #2 gets sick…then #3 and then me. I stay home with 2 and 3 and so if they’re sick, it’s just a matter of time until I catch it. I’m really surprised I’m not immuned to all the germies yet.

With #2 and #3 being sick, I can’t go to the gym during lunch b/c I don’t think Child Care will take them in if they’re sick. Besides, there are twin babies that are there during lunch and I don’t want them getting the twins sick…poor babies and poor mommy!

I actually dream of being on the elliptical during lunch watching SATC reruns on E! (don’t judge…lol). It makes the elliptical time go faster and then boom 500+ calories burned just by watching 2 episodes! Instead, I’m home trying to avoid old “comfort” food I used to enjoy when sick – aka chocolates and chips, etc. I should just go make myself an egg white spinach omelet or something…take the edge off. lol

Moto Jackets

Tanesha (www.girlwithcurves.com @girlwithcurves) just brought me WAY back to when I used to “borrow” my brother’s motorcycle jacket back in high school. Sure it was 2 or 3 sizes too big, but I loved it anyway!  Where is that darn thing?  It is pretty much just like the top black jacket on that board below.   Maybe it’s time to get another…?

PS – If you aren’t following Tanesha, what are you waiting for?  She oozes class, femininity, style and does it all so well!  She represents the plus size women, but non-plus could learn a thing or two about a thing or two, too (not to be confused with tutus…though Tanesha rocked that awesomely too).

Benefit Love

ip5 1386Amazing what switching from threading to waxing can lead to.

For a year now, I’ve been getting my eyebrows threaded. I went to 3 different places and usually, only 1 lady got it right and it was in one of those middle of the mall kiosk things. I didn’t mind it, but I always felt weird when people walking past would just stop and look. Like, um, a little privacy/space please. Which, of course, not happening when you’re getting it done in the middle of the mall.

So anyway, I decided to go to our local Ulta and just walk around. Lo and behold, we have a Benefit Brow Bar. I figured I’d give it a shot. I loved it and I love the girl who did my eyebrows (and upperlip…shh…who said that???). She was so friendly and knew all about my pains of having oily skin (which has nothing to do with waxing, but I was probably just paranoid thinking my oily skin was gushing out as she was waxing..close proximity makes me babble even moreso).

She offered to put concealer on after my waxing to hide the redness and of course, I was curious and had her make sure it matched me correctly. She swore by it and so of course, I bit the bait and got it. The concealer is called Boing by Benefit. I don’t use it all the time and really, I’m still getting used to a concealer. I never really wore one before even though everyone and their mothers knew I needed to. It might give off a bit more of a yellowish tone that I”m used to b/c when I went to wear my usual lippie, the color was off. Maybe I need to just go a smidge lighter. She pretty much matched my color instead of going lighter, but I am new to concealer so maybe that age old “go a shade lighter” doesn’t apply anymore? I guess next time I go, I will ask to try the lighter shade and see. Ulta is one of the stores where you can return a used product so long as it’s not almost all used up.

Anywho, I decided to walk around some more and discovered Benefit’s Fine One One. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! It’s a highlighter, blush and it just gives a nice warm glow and it’s buildable. Go as sheer or as bold as you want! Added bonus? You can use it on your lips too. It comes off a bit pale on me, but its good for that pale/neutral look that goes well with the smokey eye. It is creamy so I’m a bit apprehensive about using it bc of my oily skin though it seems to be ok so far. I know I’ll be wearing more of this during this spring/summer for the color (again, I hope it’s not too oily in the heat). I’m already trying not to use it too much now b/c it is still winter.

My most favorite Benefit product came 2 weeks later when I had to get my eyebrows done again. This time? Mascara. I needed a new one b/c mine are over 6 months old and that’s no bueno. Now, I’m a WAHM so I don’t need to really be buying makeup all the time, I know this…shhh…But, this mascara had me intrigued and it helped that my eyebrow girl (and 2 others working that night) kept raving about it. It’s called They’re Real Mascara. It really does build volume and lengthens all in one! The brush is designed so you can use it horizontally and vertically (that’s why the tip is curved…that’s what you use to separate and curl). That’s the only pic of me looking up where you can see my lashes in that angle and it was a rush day of applying the mascara (I didn’t wiggle it on right) so sorry if it doesn’t look great, but believe me, it really gives your lashes UUMPH AND it is waterproof AND sweatproof (already tested that out during a Pilates Reformer class and while on the elliptical for an hour)! Being that it is sweatproof and I’m trying to go to the gym more often, yes, this WAHM actually wears mascara to the gym now. lol Might as well make the most of it!

Speaking of mascara…Here are tips from Allure… wiggle-wiggle-wiggle-wiggle-wiggle-yeah!

7

Happens to be my favorite number (typical, I know…but hey, we even got married on 07.07.07) and also the number of days in a row that I have been to the gym.

Days 1-3 (Weds-Fri) last week, I went during lunch and had my girls in child care. I did elliptical work, mainly, and a little bit of weights.

Day 4 (Saturday) was family gym day – basketball fun and weights.

Day 5 (Sunday) was a demo for Pilates Reformer. 30 minutes of it and I was sore from that and Saturday’s weights.

Day 6 (Monday) was a full hour of the Pilates Reformer class.

Day 7 (yesterday, Tuesday) was an hour of Aqua Dance.

To say I’m sore is a bit of an understatement. Sad part is, I usually don’t feel full on soreness until 2 days after. So tomorrow, we’ll see if I can even get out of bed. But you know what? It’s a fantabulous SORE. I love it. I can even kind of suck in my belly now! Yes, that’s a HUGE deal.

Been using my Garmin Forerunner 110 to see how comparable the numbers are between it and the elliptical. It was pretty close when I forgot to change my weight down, but when I did, there was a noticeable difference between the 2. Still, I like to see the numbers. Didn’t realize I was such a numbers gal (just don’t ask me for any algebraic equations or calculus mumbo jumbo…it’s been WAY too long). It’s nice to use this bad boy even if I’m not using it for running outdoors and tracking my distance, etc.

Ultimate Reset was a total kickstart to my new lifestyle. Still eating healthy 90% of the time and now working out again. SUPER glad I did the reset. I can’t wait to see where I am in a month from now. I don’t know if I can keep going to the gym every single day, but I will go as much as I can because, why not?
