How is it FALL Already?

Where did the Summer (and my entries) go?  Well, ok fine, I haven’t actually written anything so they didn’t really disappear into cyberspace or anything.

Well, let’s just say we were a bit pre-occupied house hunting and house-buying and moving and entertaining our guests that came out to visit us!  Reminder – all of our family are on the East Coast or in Texas.  So, in June, my in-laws came…10 of us in a 2bedroom townhouse and we survived.  In July, our BFFs drove out from NJ and we hit up Chicago too.  In August, my sister and her family came and in September, me and the lil 2 actually headed to NJ.

Tons of unpacking still left to do and decorating and furniture buying!

Bigger than all that – we’ve already had 2 birthdays.  Razz turned 5 on 9/15 and Shrimpie is now Terrible 2 as of the 19th…of course, she’s been “terrible” since she started walking at 10.5 months, but who’s keeping track?

Happy Birthday my (2 out of 3) beauties!

razz and shrimp as little mermaids…
(sorry about the pic quality…darn phone lens is no longer sharp).

Wordful Wednesday – Halloween

I know, I know, I’m late. But, just like Angie, I can’t upload pics fast enough!

If you’ve been reading, you’ll know that we have been planning a birthday party for Beans on Halloween. It was the first Halloween Party ANY of our family members have ever thrown and it was a doozy! It wasn’t as I expected, but hey, those Halloween decorations could add up!

I wanted to decorate my parents’ house with one room all pumpkin-patchy like and another more dark and haunted, but, kids…I didn’t want to scare the kids too much NOR could we afford to go all out with decorations.

Anyway, decorated to the nines or not, it was a success! Exhausting, but successful nonetheless 😉 We had BEAUTIFUL 70 degree weather during the day and the rain held off for the most part until night. We had kiddies/adults dressed as the White Ninja (Strom Shadow from GI Joe), Cats, Wondergirls, Groovy 60s girl, Simba, Pumpkins, Fairies, Batman, Pregnant Nun, Priest, Dead guy, Superwoman, Tinkerbell, Snow White, a Knight, Pocahantas/Native Americans, etc…I’m not going to post all their pics on Flickr b/c I didn’t ask their permission. Trust me though, it was awesome and fun to see almost everyone in costume.

The following are pictures from Halloween…aka Beans’ 4th Birthday Costume Party…aka Pumpkin Picking 😉 Just like Angie said, better late than never 😀 (To see more participants for Wordful Wednesday, check out Angie’s blog).
Beans was Cinderella and would be a Diva w/a costume change later on.
pretty 4 year old

Razz was Minnie Mouse.
razz as minnie mouse

pDaddy was a Clone Trooper while I was a Pirate, Wench or “Deck Hand Darling” (as the costume description said).
our halloween dance

Here are the 3 of us – minus Razz because she decided she didn’t care too much about the party and wanted to nap for 3 hours instead!
us - minus razz b/c she took a 3 hour nap!

Cake was made by my MUM especially for Beans. Cinderella and a Pirate theme all-in-one – talk about custom made.

Here’s a pic of Me & Little Me after her costume change 😉 My eyes are closed, but it’s the only picture of the 2 of us in our matching attire. It was around 8pm already. Her party started at 1pm and she had NO nap.
she had a costume change, that diva...

We didn’t get pictures of the goodie bags, but we did them like Razz’ – brown paper lunch bags w/die-cuts on them. This time, instead of apples, we had die-cuts of pumpkins, ghosts and skulls.

To see a few more – check out my Halloween 2009 set over @ Flickr.

BornDay…Seeing ORANGE!

I should have titled this “Beans’ Birthday-day Wrap-Up…lol…

More pics from Beans’ Birthday Dinner @ home…We always have a get together with the fam on our real birthdays and, maybe, a bigger birthday party too w/more friends and the rest of the fam.

Her FAVE present
– Handy Manny “Puh-Pair” shop from Lolo & Mum. We got her a camera (so she stops trying to use ours!):

Pics of Mama & Papa’s presents came out blurry, but she loved her clothes too! And here she is being silly w/her card from them – eye all peeking out ;):

clothes! silly w/her card

Ever since Beans was born 4 years ago – 3 days before my birthday – my birthday has been put on the back burner. I knew that was going to happen when I was initially told her due date was my birthday. I’ve gotten used to it and actually don’t mind it. I don’t really need a reminder to tell me I’m getting older! I’m happy w/the birthday greets from family/friends via email, phone, text message and even FB. Friends keep telling me we should go out to celebrate anyway and I would love to, if my birthday didn’t fall during the busiest sesason of our work year and I wasn’t so exhausted or sick!

So anyway, for my bday, I was surprised to still score a few presents. One of the best presents? Beans passed her TKD test and got her ORANGE belt! So proud of my little bugger 😉 This time, she had to break the board using her arm/elbow (I forgot what that “punch” was called). For her yellow belt, she had to break the board w/a “hammer” punch using her fist.

Here she is w/that elbow/arm punch breaking the board! Took her a couple of tries, but she did it 🙂

My little TKD superstar 🙂

How terrible that this is the only pic of me on my bday – so haggard looking…That would be the direct result of working and running around doing errands for Beans’ Halloween Bday Party.

The rest of my birthday was spent @ my parents’ house decorating and prepping for Beans’ Birthday Party with the help of my siblings, nieces and nephews…Halloween was extra exhausting this year! That entry, coming up tomorrow, I hope.

Bullet Style:

  • Kind of spooked that an old friend of mine got buried this morning – on my birthday. 31 years young…got hit by an SUV while crossing the street. Sounded all too familiar as I got hit by an SUV crossing the street over 7 years ago. Was never able to make it to her wake…I’m sure she understands. She was always very understanding and always so happy and literally made the room shine w/her radiant smile. RIP Debbie Debs…God Rest Your Soul and be with your family now and always…
  • Well, that was a downer! Let’s try to change that a bit.

  • As a treat for my birthday, I got myself a Big Mac Value Meal. Haven’t had one in a long time and hey, why not? My diet’s out the window anyway. Besides, I’m sick and stressed and need comfort food 😉
I treated myself to a Big Mac for my bday ;)
  • Been running around going nuts buying last minute stuff for Beans’ Halloween Birthday Party tomorrow. No cake store around me so I can’t find anything CINDERELLA-ish for her cake. All I managed to find was a Cinderella candle. She will be a Cinderella and a Pirate so I got some pirate stuff too. Maybe we’ll make Cinderella go on a treasure hunt!
  • I can’t wait to see everyone in costume!
  • We’re going to decorate my parents’ house tonight for Beans’ party…ordering Chinese for my bday 🙂
  • Beans is testing for her ORANGE belt later today!
  • I wanted to take a day off from work today…Instead, I will be working late tonight 😦 So, I took a 2 hour lunch to balance it out – sorta
  • So, we’ll be decorating and celebrating my bday w/Chinese while I work on/off checking emails and loading stuff to tables…oh joy!
  • If you actually read all that and are still reading, here’s Beans rockin’ to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'”:
  • (grrr…why can’t the flickr video embed correctly???)

    Happy 4th Birthday, Beans!

    Mornin' Bday Girl!
Little Miss Beans is 4 Today 🙂4!
My goodness, how time flies! I can’t believe she’s 4 already…didn’t I just push for 2 hours yesterday?
    Wink ;) Tiny Beans

It’s all still so clear to me…all that pushing for 2 WHOLE HOURS! I was on the brink of a C-Section if she didn’t come out when she did…And then the drama of a cord wrapped around her neck! But oh the joys when we heard her cry! And here we are, 4 years later…

She’s grown to be so smart and beautiful and we are so blessed to have this little ray of sunshine in our everyday lives…

In the past year, she’s started to:

    • Write her name.
    • Become a really great helper and now cleans up after herself – her toys, books, crayons, etc.
    • Get really comfy with swimming on her own – well, with floaties, but she can jump in and swim w/o any help.
    • Really get into reading and always asks us to read to her.
    • Be an expert flower girl (well, starting July 2007):

Making her Grand Entrance (dancing while walking…looked like she was walking and hula-hooping at the same time) at the White Party – Beach Reception:

Flower Girl in August - Beach Reception

    • Become a great big sister to Razz – even helping coach Razz w/potty training.
    • Learn how to play with her sister whether it’s playing tag or hide and seek or just playing together instead of taking toys away from her.
    • Build bridges and towers and other fun stuff with big blocks (like Lego, but not).
    • Really get into drawing. She makes a mean Stewie (Griffin from “Family Guy”) hehehe
    • Get into performing – singing and dancing. She’s even memorized a Tagalog song (well, some words aren’t right, but still). Why I can’t find that video right now, I have no idea… 😦
    • Really LOVE Tae Kwon Do. She’ll be testing for her Orange Belt on Friday!
      TKD - Yellow Belt Commendation
    • Become a typical girl who keeps changing her mind – costume choices went from Cinderella to a Pirate back to Cinderella and now both. Guess she’ll be having a change of wardrobe for her Birthday Costume Party on Halloween. She was also wavering with what she wanted for her birthday – Handy Manny’s Repair Shop. No a camera. No a pet…A dog – a REAL one (emphasis on “REAL”). No a violin. No a…etc…
    • And as always, she makes everyone around her happy. Of course, she is still a child and has her moments when she acts up, but she knows to come around and make an apology. She’s gotten picky with eating, but she still eats well…just not too many veggies anymore 😦 We’ll figure out a way to get her back to loving veggies like she used to, I hope.

All in all, it’s been a great 4 years watching her develop and grow…I’m glad to be home with her to see it all. I don’t know how I’ll be when she starts school next Fall, but I’ll have to find a way to manage living my everyday life without her home for a few hours a day 😉

Happy 4th Birthday, Little Big Girl!

    You Capture – Happiness!

This week’s challenge was to capture Happiness…To see other participants, check out Beth over at

Here are a few things that make me happy and show happiness too!
    these make me happy
School Supplies: I loves me some FINE / EXTRA FINE point pens and recycled paper/notebooks. Even back when I was in High School (early 90s…yes, I know…that’s waaaaay back), I used recycled looseleaf paper. I got the pens and notebook from the Philippines – they are all of the above and cute too!

Hello Kitty: Anything Hello Kitty / made by Sanrio. I used to be such a Sanrio junkie that my one wall had NKOTB posters (*GASP*) and the other was a wall full of Sanrio characters and staionery.

    Rubik’s Cube:
My new/old toy…again. I can still only do 1 side, but I know there’s a YouTube tutorial out there somewhere.

    Crackberry: Enough said.

Beautiful Beaches – another thing that makes me smile from ear to ear. This is one of the resorts we stayed at while on vacation in the Philippines last month. Resort: BOHOL BEACH CLUB – Bohol, Philippines
    beautiful beach

Getting a pic w/one of my favorite singers from the Philippines, Gary V (Gary Valenciano). Yup, that qualifies as something that makes me happy too! This was also from our Philippines trip…on the stage of “Wowowee” – a noon time variety show in the Philippines. Let’s ignore my overly cheesy smile and shiny face, shall we? Thanks 😉

    w/Gary V on stage @ Wowowee

And of course, seeing these smiles make me happiest of all 🙂

I never got to play in the rain when I was kid (something about getting sick easily and overprotective parents), but these 2 sure make it look like a lot of fun!
